Welcome to Virginia Dermatological Society Website!
This public access section of our website is loaded with features and information assembled specifically for you! The purpose of this website is to bring all of our members together in one website to facilitate easier communication, and to share with our community who we are. The Virginia Dermatological Society overall mission is to inform, serve and advocate and to bring into one organization every qualified dermatologist in Virginia to make effective the opinion of the medical profession in all scientific, legislative, public health and social affairs. Our purposes are to further the precepts of providing high-quality dermatological care for patients and to promote and monitor the ethical and competent practice of dermatology. In addition, the Society provides consumer advocacy through member participation in community events, services and programs, and the general dissemination of information about dermatologist and services that are available.
We are providing our members with a strong voice and active representation in the State Legislature. The more members we have, the more power we have in Richmond. So, with your continued membership, we pledge to help you fight the burden of more legislation, more regulation, more government expenditures, more taxation, and less freedom for your patients. We pledge our hard work and diligence to help you survive the many challenges facing the dermatology profession as well as your individual practice.
There are many exciting projects ahead and much still needed to be accomplished for the years to come. I welcome all comments from our members (and non-members too!) as I look at this as the vehicle to become more relevant.
Hope you are all looking forward to a break from crowded offices and hectic work schedules and have planned to take some much needed time off during the upcoming summer months. We all need a break from our busy practices. It is important for our mental as well as physical health; so please don't neglect it!
As your Executive Director, and on behalf of your Board of Governors, we would like to thank you personally for your continued support over the years, and for your ongoing support in the future.
Sincerely,
Dr. Julia K. Padgett, MD
